Why I'll Never Embed a Video in a Blog Post
While surfing through random blogs this evening I came to the realization that a video embedded in a blog entry is something I always skip over - I don't believe I have ever played an embedded video in a blog, no matter how inviting or tempting the teaser line is. The thing is, I never feel like taking the time to find out what the video might contain, how long it might be, or whether I will even be interested in it. Additionally, I am almost always using some sort of media which conflicts with the video's audio while I am on the computer; either listening to music, audio books, or watching a movie, and I don't want to put forth the effort to stop everything, just to watch a likely inane video. This isn't to say that I never watch videos online - but I usually only do this when I am in a video-watching mood and environment. I realize that not everyone might be of the same opinion as me, but I feel I must represent the majority - and therefore I don't ever want to subject my reader to some random video, even if I find that it's the most topical and exciting video to ever come across my screen. Hopefully this trend will die down a bit now that the new-car smell has worn off of youtube - but we'll see. So, do you view the videos you come across while surfing? Am I being unreasonable? Tell me what you think about this subject!

I think you're right. To be honest, I never thought about this question like that, but you're right. For example, when I'm listening to music and someone sends me a link to a video or if I see some in a blog or forum post I get a little bit upset.
And sometimes the video is just a meaningless thing...

I agree with you on this. I'm annoyed to have to pause my music and watch a video, and most the time it isn't even worth watching. Good of you to not post them at all and save the readers the trouble.
