What's Next for my Blog Software

One of my main goals since starting this blog software project has been to write the portion of the software that the blog reader never sees - the behind the scenes stuff. Since I haven't yet done this, I am still manually entering each of my entries into the blog database, and manually updating my ATOM feed. This adds a bit of time to how long it takes me to publish a post and I am embarrassed to say, the added time and tedious nature of this task does sometimes deter me from wanting to write a post. Unfortunately, the things that my readers do see are a definite priority - improving the quality of presentation directly improves the reader experience, so I may not get to the back end software until I am completely satisfied with the front end. For example, my blog desperately needs categories/tags functionality, so I can stop referring all of my tag links to technorati, and so I can have very useful features like category listings and tag clouds. This is probably the next thing I will work on and implement into the software, and for now the publishing software will have to continue to wait. Is there some feature that you've noticed my blog lacks? Is there something here that you think needs improvement? Leave me a comment with any feedback!

The advantage of not being a techie is that I never even thought of setting up my own blog. It was blogger or nothing. While I don't have the control I'd like, I have a lot more than I could have created.
Before I run out of words, one thing to fix is the character limit in comments. Who knows when 1500 chars is up?

That also means I know nothing about making computer games, but I would ask about the theme = homeless man. Do you know any homeless folks that inspired this? Is this going to be a game how to get out of homelessness, show people what it is like, or let's go shoot us a homeless guy?

Also, something to add to your tips on getting people to your site - write good stuff about something people are interested in. Last week I attended a big trial in Anchorage and blogged it and got linked on the local newspaper website and local public radio site. My hits went up sixfold in the middle. Now I'm way back down, but still above the previous normal.

Finally, the pictures add a lot. And seeing Tulum again after many years was great. Reminds me you commented about the cruise post I had. I got the book Pirates of the Seven Seas last week. Tells about how the cruise companies operate. Not a pretty picture.
Take care. Let's see if I'm within my limit.

Another thing to fix - I had paragraphs when I wrote, but everything got squished into one paragraph - no spaces between ideas.

Hey Steve, thanks again for the comments - I know my comment software needs some work, and I thank you for reminding me of the problems it has. I will probably try to add a character counter, as well as fix the paragraph problem. I will write up a post in the next week or two describing the game in more detail, I know I really haven't told you much yet. Hope to see you around!
