Tech Blog Comments
I decided to participate in the 2kbloggers Monday Meme this week even though it's almost Tuesday - the idea is to find posts in other blogs that you might want to comment on, and write your responses in your own blog as a post. I decided to search the blogger directory for the word "tech" to find 2k blogger blogs that are related to mine.
The first blog I found was "The TechInformation Encyclopedia." The lastest post was filed under "windows tricks", and is titled "Defrag the Hard Drive." VaTsAl suggests defragmenting your harddrive every few months or so. I don't think I've defragmented my harddrives for at least a few years - and he has reminded me that I might need to do this at some point to increase my hard drive's response time. Sometimes it's very hard to do basic maintenance and upkeep on a computer, even if most of it is automatically scheduled. I think I might decide a day or weekend every month to make sure my systems are up to snuff. I like the tips VaTsAl provides on optimizing the defragmenting process.
The second blog I visited was "technabob." Once again I find myself attracted to the first post on the front page, "this atari joystick is on fire." Author Paul Strauss showcases an interesting piece of art, a candleholder inspired by the Atari 2600 joystick. I can relate to this, as I used to have and use many Atari computers, and I currently have 4 of these joysticks in my possession (along with an Atari 2600, and an Atari 400). I like the idea of nerd art.
A post on techipedia provided author Tamar Weinberg's "stumbles" for the week, things he had stumbled and liked during the last week using the StubleUpon service. I like this idea, and I might start doing a weekly posting of my own good stumbles. The best link in his weekly stumbles was this Lego computer - just awesome, a must-visit for anyone who has ever built a PC.
Check out 2kbloggers for other people's responses to this meme. On a completely different topic, this is my 40th post! How many posts does your blog have?

I love the "stumble" idea. A great source of fodder for anyone's mill. I always find pages I like very much when I stumble.
