Pagerank Changes Over at Google

Apparently over the past few days google has been updating the "pagerank" number of all the sites in it's search index. I don't know a whole lot about how pagerank factors in to search results or much else, but it's obvious that a higher pagerank is good. After a little research into the topic I found out that google updates pageranks every quarter - after hearing this news I was curious if my pagerank changed at all in this round of updates; it was a 0 when I started blogging, which is to be expected because this URL wasn't used for much until I put my first article up two months ago. I went out and found a pagerank checker, and my new pagerank is a 4! I think 4 is a pretty common pagerank, but I am excited to have moved from a 0 to a 4 in two months. Most of the URLs for my entries have a pagerank of three, but the blog index, and a few other random pages achieved a 4. If nothing else, not being a zero should give my blog a little bit more credibility in the blogging world. I hope this change will bring me more visitors through google searches, and there could be other hidden benefits that I am unaware of currently - after all, google seems to be the dominant party when it comes to today's web benchmarks. I now get to look forward to seeing if I move up any more next quarter, I guess if I were to set a goal it would be to reach pagerank 6 in the next round of updates.
