My Altec Lansing Speakers Are Dead

The speaker set I have on my desktop computer is even older than the 5 year old system it is connected to, but it has served me very well, and it was a great speaker system. I say, "was" because my Altec Lansing ADA 880 speaker set has passed on. This isn't something I saw coming - speakers are the type of thing that you imagine will last forever. Alas, as of two days ago, they will not turn on. All attempts to troubleshoot the problem have failed. I may end up opening up the casing on the controls and subwoofer to see if there is some glaringly obvious problem, but I doubt I will find anything. If on the off chance anyone reading this has some crazy way to revive them I would love to hear about it, but for now I think I have to resign myself to a grieving period and then go shop for a new set, R.I.P. speakers :( Sadly, it will be difficult to replace such great speakers; any suggestions on something comparable to the ADA 880 set?
