iSkin for iPod nano 2nd Generation "Chill Pack" Review
I recently received an ipod cover for my second generation ipod nano as a graduation gift. My sister (who also has a 2G nano) and I spent some time researching ipod cases, skins, and covers and the best we could find was the iSkin. She purchased one a few months ago and has been enjoying it since then, so she decided to get one for me as a graduation gift. I like almost everything about this skin. Each pack comes with a variety of silicone skin colors, mine has clear, blue, and purple. She got me this particular "Chill Pack" because it had the clear option and the blue option. We hoped the clear option would show the vibrant color of the nano through the silicone - sadly it is semi-opaque and the whiteness dulls the color. The blue cover on the other hand seems to do a better job of matching the blue metallic look of my ipod. Since each skin is a bit transparent the blue color of the ipod shows through, and the blue of the iSkin silicone case matches it. The skin and hard plastic cover for the front are both very thin and form-fitting, small enough that while on the ipod it still seems plenty small and portable. There is no loose material, everything stretches slightly to fit perfectly on the nano. In addition to fitting so well the case still seems to add quite a bit of durability. All the controls and ports are still easily accessible, and the scroll wheel works exactly the same through the casing material.
The iSkin also comes with a great belt clip. The clip is a sturdy clear plastic that can rotate 180 degrees and stays clipped on very securely. One of the most important features I was looking for in an ipod case was a good clip to make it more easily portable, and the iSkin fits the bill perfectly. The $30 price tag was the one thing that kept me from purchasing this case for myself. I was on the lookout for a good bargain on something comparable because $30 seemed like a bit too much money to spend on a case. Despite this drawback, I imagine the case will pay for itself in the protection it provides my ipod, and I will be glad to have the expert design that is being paid for in the hefty price tag. Overall I would highly recommend the iSkin 2nd generation ipod nano cover for anyone looking to protect their nano while still maintaining style and function - just be aware that you will have to pay for the quality. Thanks for the great gift Laura!
