I'm Back From Vacation on Hawaii's Big Island

I'm back from Hawaii, I've actually been back for a few days, but the chaos of resuming life after a vacation has been keeping me busy. I apologize for the very few posts that appeared while I was gone - the Internet wasn't as accessible as I had expected at my hotel, and I ended up being a lot busier than I first expected. I would like to thank Jorge Goyco for providing me with relevant guest posts while I was gone, I hope everyone enjoyed his posts. In the next few days I hope to get back to a normal posting routine, with normal post content - but for now, here is a bit about my trip.

The Big Island (Hawaii) was very fun - we explored pretty much every part of the island accessible by rental car. Unfortunately we didn't get to see any flowing lava at Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, but it was still a really cool place to explore. We also didn't get to visit the unique green sand beach on the southern tip of the island because we didn't have a 4 wheel drive rental, and we didn't want to do a 5 mile hike. We did a few fun excursions, including snorkeling, horse back riding, and of course a luau. I was not prepared for the shear size of the island, it is huge with so much diversity in landscape, tourist attractions, and culture. One of the best resources we had was the book Hawaii The Big Island Revealed: The Ultimate Guidebook by Andrew Doughty. This book had information on everything we wanted to read about and more, it was invaluable as a tourist guide book, and I highly recommend it (or any of the author's other books about Hawaii's islands) for anyone traveling to Hawaii. This was my second visit to Hawaii, my first visit was to Maui in 2001 - and I am sure I will go back again in the future. Did you have a cool vacation this summer?
