Facebook is Positioning To Overtake Myspace
I haven't been paying much attention to Facebook lately, but it has gone nuts in the past month - giving users and third party developers access to the Facebook API, and allowing users to completely customize what appears on their profile, it has skyrocketed past Myspace as the most versatile and customizable social networking site on the Internet. Everyone in my friends list has already started tweaking their profiles, adding new features and programs, and creating a unique experience. The viral nature of each application stands out as one of the best features of the entire Facebook system - if your friend starts using a cool new application, you'll probably find out about it soon enough, either through direct interaction with you, or through a news feed update. Facebook also decided last year to open up registration to the public, which has caused a huge boost in their audience and growth rate. Because Myspace is plagued by bad design and the constant task to try and shut down third party developers and widgets, I predict that Facebook in the next two years will overtake Myspace and become the most dominant and widely used networking site in the world. Having an open API is especially interesting to me, and I am motivated to come up with a good application idea, just to try out a bit of programming on the Facebook API - or, worst case scenario, I could program a not-so-good application, just to get my feet wet - possibly more on this later. For now I will jump back into Facebook and see what crazy applications I should add to my profile.

OK, Kevin, I finally put your 18 Ways up on my blog. I really wanted to get deeper into the idea of needing traffic and why people blog, but by the time I put a couple examples up of ways to increase traffic, it was already a long blog. Take care. Hope your spaghetti was good.
